I understand that people represent an organization’s most appreciable asset. No resource is more valuable than people. Wise leaders practice the Law of Addition. Leaders add value to an organization by serving their people. How?
By staying close to them, working at maintaining relationships, and meeting some of their needs. Usually, I will spend time one-to-one praying with and coaching them when necessary. Being forthright, at times I have to confront an issue and speak the truth in love. It is something that I do not enjoy doing, but for the sake and health of the agency, it is so necessary.
Trying to add value to staff and sharpen those with whom I come in contact – how? I do so through our devotion meeting, coaching, meeting fortnightly with managers, meeting monthly with all financial planners, and hosting a quarterly lunch with some financial planners.
Leaders add value by serving others, changing lives through the Law of Addition. This law is number 5 in John C Maxwell’s, “21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership”, and it’s a great one!
As you lead your team, look for ways to use the Law of Addition to bring everyone to a higher level.
